What’s going on with Dark Horse Digital?
On February 24, 2025, we announced that the Dark Horse Digital service is ending.
Beginning on March 31, 2025, the Dark Horse Comics and Plants vs. Zombies Comics apps for iOS will no longer be supported or updated.
Users can continue to log in to the website and read the comics in their bookshelves. We plan for online access to the DHD website to be available at least through summer, 2025.
Will the iOS apps still work after March 30, 2025?
The Dark Horse and Plants vs. Zombies apps will no longer be supported or updated, but you can download comics to the apps through March 30, 2025.
The ability to download to your device isn’t guaranteed after that date.
You will be able to access downloaded books after we end support on March 31, 2025. But, because we won’t be issuing updates, the performance of the apps will degrade over time.
Did I lose access to my comics collection?
You can continue to log in to the DHD website and read the comics in your bookshelf. We plan for online access to be available at least through summer, 2025. When the website is eventually retired, online access will end.
You can also access your comics through the apps. But, we strongly encourage app users to download books to their device by March 30, 2025. We can’t guarantee you will be able to download after that date.
Do I own the comics in my bookshelf?
Technically, you do not. As with Kindle, Nook, and other e-book companies, you license the right to read the book on supported and authorized devices.

Can I download comics from the website? Can you send me PDFs?
Unfortunately, we are unable to allow downloads to your computer or provide PDFs.
Can users of the Dark Horse and Plants vs. Zombies iOS apps access their digital collection on the website?
Yes, as long as the Dark Horse Digital website is running, you can access your digital comics collection. A DHD account is required. If you don’t’ have a DHD account, you can create one using this LINK.
Note: The ability to create a new DHD account will end on March 31, 2025.
What do I do if the website doesn’t show all the digital comics I have on the app?
You probably need to sync your digital collection to your DHD account. Sign in to the iOS app with your DHD account.
In the app settings menu navigate to “my digital collection.” Once there, tap on the “restore purchases” button and give the app time to for the sync to complete. Once the sync process finishes, you should have access to your entire digital comics collection on the website.
Will Dark Horse still release digital comics?
Yes, we will continue to release digital comics.
You can find digital single issue comics on Amazon, iBooks, and Google Play Books. Digital editions of our graphic novels and other books are available on those platforms, as well as Barnes & Noble, Kobo, GlobalComix, and others. Digital editions are also available through several library services.
Can I get a refund?
We are able to offer refunds for 2025 transactions made on the website.
The deadline to request a refund is April 30, 2025.
We do not have the ability to reverse transactions made through the Dark Horse or Plants vs. Zombies Comics apps. Charges made to an Apple ID have to be discussed with Apple.
If you would like to get a refund for a transaction made in 2025 on the DHD website please take the following steps:
1) Navigate to your transaction history page HERE. If you aren’t logged in to your DHD account, you will be prompted to do so.
2) Check the box next to any eligible transactions you wish to reverse.
3) Click the “request refund” button either at the top or bottom of the page.
Once your request is received, we will send a confirmation message to the email address attached to your DHD account. Please allow 5 - 10 business days for the refund to appear on your credit card statement.
Again, we are unable to refund web transactions made prior to 2025, or any transactions made on the iOS apps. For iOS app refunds, you must contact Apple for assistance.
